Battersea power station viewed from the north bank of the Thames at dusk. July 2012
One of my favourite buildings in London – I wonder what the future holds for her? Battersea power station viewed from the north bank of the Thames at dusk. Built: 1933-55 Decommissioned: 1983. Architect: Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (designer of the red telephone box).
Beautiful photographs. This building is my fav too, and I very often think it could be converted to an exhibition space, or a library… hope it lives on.
I hope is has a happy ending too, there have been so many proposals as long as I can remember from Cinema centre, Art gallery (Tate Modern was proposed to be here at one point) and Football stadium – I guess one big problem is that its hard to get to and not near other honey pots
I always thought that Battersea Power Station would make a good table if it were upended! I bet you’d take an equally good photograph of it if that were to happen! 🙂
And i’d be sure to get there if it did! thanks!
